Well, where did the day go? And the night.
Last time I looked it was Wednesday night. Then I remembered an assignment due on the 21st (I never really forgot it, I just ignored it). Damn! It was already the 26th. Time to knuckle down and work.
I hate Hydrology and Geomorphology like I hate brussel sprouts. It’s fascinating, but no thanks. Why do they make me, a physics major, study erosion? Apparently when I’m in a high school teaching seniors physics and maths, I will be expected to also teach the 12 year olds science. That’s the whole thing, chemistry, biology, the works.
So out of respect for my GPA I stayed at it until after 3am. I think that was Wednesday night. Or was it Thursday morning? Does the day change at midnight or when you get up again after sleeping? My 3 cute babies woke me about 7am by fighting over everything to do with breakfast. It took all my patience to get them ready for the day without resorting to screaming or breaking things.
Then it was back to the books… which are next to the computer… which is connected to the internet… where fatty lives. So that was most of Thursday gone (fatty you’re a distraction). Apart from the turmoil when the kids came home just as Mrs BIG Mike was leaving for work. There’s another 5 hours gone.
As 8pm chimed, I noticed that the assignment hadn’t managed to metabolise into anything meaningful. Back to the computer. Err, books. This (on my Australian clock) was about 6 hours after fatty published the already legendary "pick on me, I deserve it" blog.
In between my 7 nasty comments (yes 7 – if you take out the un-nasty comments, I represent nearly 20% of everything mean in fatty’s world) I managed to crank out an 18 page scientific report on "Human influences on accelerated degradation of riparian zones from an agricultural and recreational perspective".
And here is where today’s title comes from. I was at about page 12 when the sun got in my eyes. I was on page 15 when the babies started tearing the house down looking for breakfast. And at 10:02am I walked into Fridays lecture smiled politely and deposited upon the lecturers desk, my best work thus far.
I fell asleep in the lecture. I fell asleep at the coffee shop at lunch time. I stayed wide awake at the physics tutorial at 3pm though. Because I like physics.
This story reminded me of several other things I can tell you about. Maybe this blog does have some longevity in it. There’s potential.
